Progressively feeling worse.

I forgot how lousy allergies can be.  I had a pretty good reprieve for the duration of the reproductive/nursing years.  I have a feeling the worn down iron deficient body is not helping my immune response.

Had a great visit with my parents.  Both made a trek up the stairs at biggest boys fortress education to see his classroom.  He was thrilled.

Wee girlie and midsized boy were worn to the bone this afternoon, taking their gran to the Costco and other errands… hence no nap.  Hence wee girlie asleep by 7:30.  Yeah… wow.  The other morning she got up at around 7.  Same as always.  wipes sweat off brow and thanks whomever is in charge for that small mercy!  Hopes for more mercy come the morning hours. No, I’m not willing to entertain cutting out her naps.  No way, no how, no no NO!  She was not the most delightful beast this afternoon.  I only survived by going upstairs and back to bed at five…  yeah, moms can only call in sick when dad gets home.

Got up at seven and kept plodding along with the new sock book.  yeah yeah, will link later.  Too flipping tired.  Swatching… well actually, knitting an entire wee sock.  that way I know what I’m up against… I hope.

G’night all.

Made it to pay day by the skin of our teeth this month.  curses the van and price of petrol…

We weren’t starving by any means, but I like to have a lot more veggies and fruit than I found this morning.  And we ran out of juice by lunch time.  Wee girlie spent the entire roam around the massive store clutching her ‘matos’ (tomatoes) and garlic.   Yeah… she is the one who opens the fridge and shovels grape tomatoes in to her mouth until I stop the chipmunk impersonations.

We also purchased the essential sidewalk chalk (hoodlums stole the last of the supply in the fall and ‘tagged’ the sidewalk outside the house, watering can did wonders for that stunt) and midsized boys birthday present.   I’m sure he will squeal with delight come that morning.  The new play dough octopus play thing.  I have to add, this is the kid who uses an entire package of popsicle sticks instead of the cookie cutters and shape maker some days! This is a kid who when you set him down with playdough…. you have a good half hour, often more of pure fun.  It will be good.  I think I’ll take him back to the homestead for the weekend of my fathers birthday, catch a ride back to home the next day with the in-laws who are coming in for husbands birthday.  Yes, April is scary for us.  Father and nephew one day, husband and his mother the next and the midsized boy rounds it out the next day.  Actually if you take only three generations… there are 27 of them.

Midsized boy was ‘due’ in May… on International Midwifery Day (May 5th!).  Though now that I think of it, my father was a very early baby, like they called the vicar to bless him (baptise even?!) when he was born.  My father was what is now termed as an unassisted birth.  My grandparents did not have the money to go to the hospital.  Oh yes, universal healthcare was not in effect then… scary huh?  For all that she ‘forgot’ in her last few years… my grandmother could laugh about her own mother and sister sipping tea down in the kitchen while she laboured and delivered my father.

okay, enough rambling huh?  I need to go to bed early tonight… these allergies are whooping my butt!

I’ve scrubbed down almost every surface in this house at least three times in the last two weeks…

Bedding on each bed has been changed, at least twice… some of us had to sleep on towels because we ran out of sheets. The duvets have all been washed and ‘over dried’ which means they were put through past the automatic shut off the environmentally friendly dryer of mine does…. so the germs would be fried.

And yet…. biggest boy was taken sobbing from school this morning… cause his ’stomach hurts sooo much, but I can’t miss making an inukshuk!!!!!’ Bless his teacher, she sent home enough rocks to make at least two! So he has had the wee crust of french bread left over from yesterday… I have to get some applesauce made while wee girlie sleeps… Husband has been instructed to bring home white rice. Yes, there are downfalls to eating whole grain/healthy.

Now that I think of it… I’ll put some bread in the machine too. I have some plain unbleached flour that will do the trick.

Can I get sick next? Will they take care of me? puhleeeeeze!

for all the vomit emitted from biggest boy last night…

how is that for an opening line?  If it weren’t for that… I’d have appreciated the time change much more… seems like 8:00 when they got up for the day, not the usual seven or sooner.
I am so sick and tired of … sick and tired.

So not doing church this weekend.  Going to let husband sleep a bit more, then MY TURN!

*on a good note, the victims were just our bed, his bed and four pairs of pj’s… awesome!  Huzzah! improvement!

sick-sick-sick-003.jpg

And no, the dog can’t lay on his bed…. I’m using it!  I’m responsible for the cleanliness of it… I get to enjoy it!

Bug off.

Poor girl is just misery personified.  She hates having her hair washed… it had to be done tonight.  She howled and howled and howled and screeched her displeasure.  I escaped briefly for a wander through Chapters and came home to her howls… through the windows.  Across the street.  She is just burning… husband medicated her at nine, have it ready to go in a few hours to give her more.  She was happy to see me.  Apparently dad just doesn’t cut it tonight.

Biggest boy thankfully has lunch at school tomorrow!  whew!  I’ll see if I can get someone to walk him to and from tomorrow.  I figure if she doesn’t improve I’ll have to suck it up and take her to the walk-in clinic.  sigh.

Well people.  I need to try and get some sleep.     -stop laughing-

Three sets of fitted sheets, two duvet covers, the duvet, the back-up ‘quilt’, fifteen towels, seven pairs of pj’s, four undershirts (gave up on those after a while), five pairs of socks, one pig, one bear, the polar bear, a duck, dads shirt times 3, mom times two… full body changes.

Every 90 minutes or so…. all. night. long.

To say I’m tired and smelly… is an understatement.

She has sipped ginger-ale since 9 pm.  and that is all.

Ginger-ale vomit is just as gross as the fully formed stuff of the beginning.

She just puked all over the dogs bed.  Add dog bed to the list.

Wee girlie.

Vomit

Times three.

BLECH!

Okay, so three hour daytime naps and ten hours at night… not working on this plague.

Husband seems to think he is bringing home the boys today… uhhh no. Roads are ‘travel not recommended’. Suck it up, I’ve been stuck with the parents often enough! And I want one more night to try and kick this plague out of me… oh for the love of dairy I want this to go away. It is kicking my butt. I do not want to imagine what it is going to do to me come Tuesday when school starts up again. At least biggest boy has piano at lunch, so I don’t have to worry about that!

All I want is a 2 L bottle of Dr. Pepper or Pepsi… I’m craving bubbly caffeine. Instead. I drink green tea. No wonder I’m retching so much. :-(

On the plus side, I’ve changed all the bed linens for the kids. I don’t see the point of doing mine until I stop leaking mucus. Sigh. Two and a half hours to nap time.. now only to figure out what to have for lunch. What to eat when you can’t taste anything? yeah… fun and games.

*now with dizziness… and gastro-intestinal issues.  I should eat, but fear is getting the better of me.  Maybe tonight.  Seeing as we don’t have anything that fits the brat diet, I might have to wait until husband gets home tomorrow… bread (white only), rice (you guessed it, white!), applesauce (woot some colour!), toast (yeah the flax/sunflowerseed whole grains stuff is still not an option).   Cripes.  Wee girlie had better snooze well this afternoon.
I have apples, will set them up to be smooshed shortly.  lovely….. just lovely.

Alrighty then…. READ THE COMMENTS SECTION GANG… I’m now back to where I started on the drink container idea.

Sigh.

yeah… that is all for weenies. I digress, I did get some sleep. Wee girlie slept soundly all night long thank you Children’s Tylenol cough and cold! Yes, I drugged her for her weight/age.

We got up and had a leisurely breakfast with loads of juice. I am keeping that kid hydrated, that is for sure! She is on her third 500ml container of watered down juice. I think I’ll start saving up for some sigg containers. I’m getting more and more aware of the plastics in our lives. And I’m getting a little freaked about it.

Ahhh as I age, I get more adept at listening to the little voices in my head… good and bad ones, that is.

I have enough cash in the house that I could logistically order East Indian food for supper tonight. Nice hot curry, butter chicken… tandoori? Or I could be good and just make us something to eat. I know I’ll be good and make us supper, but the temptation is there.

Two hours until nap time. WOOT! Yes, we are both napping. I have no qualms about leaving the house the way it is for now. I’ll pick up the toys tonight. Wee girlie is having a blast running about with all the toys and books and such. She watched her Diego video half a billion times yesterday… yes, I broke down and bought a Diego video. I know, I know… but really. In this case, I got to die on the couch and she was thrilled to just lay on me and watch him quietly dripping snot all over herself and me. It was a good coping mechanism for us both. Today we are on to Peter Pan. Or not… she is screaming at the tv now.

I should go be a good parent now.

Perhaps tandoori chicken is not such a bad idea as a treat later.

:-)

Husband and biggest boy have gone West to the homestead of our youth. In an effort to outrun the freezing rain/snow dump expected tomorrow, they left at supper time.

I am here with wee girlie and the plague.

I am going to bed after I have a shower. No, I am not kidding. Sleep… I look forward to sleeping without someone commenting on my snoring, or being elbowed in the face and kicked in the shins. Man am I looking forward to that!

Okay, I’ll stay up until they phone that they are safe and sound. Then I will bathe and go to sleep. Luckily today, I had the neighbour take biggest boy to and from school. Chinese hot pot feast with our friends has been postponed until further notice. Yeah, wouldn’t have been able to taste anything with this! What a waste that would have been! Oh and that storm, yeah, rather leave sooner than later for sure!

Night night all.

That is the question.

I have, can, and will be drugging my children.  All day and all night.  Sorry, second day home from school… still got the snots and watery eyes… but the energy level is astronomical!

Any hoo.

Seeing as I decided to peruse the article about folic acid and dementia (yeah, cause taking it while pregnant helps with memory retention?  SNORT!).. I first dropped by this article .

Rule #1  Give your kids their meds, do not assume they will be able to do so on their own until they are 12 or later!

Rule #2 Give them the right amount for their WEIGHT.  Age doesn’t mean anything if your kid is scrawny or heavier on the scale!

Rule #3 Give it to them when they really need it.  Not just because you need a good nights sleep.

Rule #4 A cool mist humidifier will go a long way to help keep the buggies out of the lungs.

That is all for this psa.

Thank you.

I am now going to make some from scratch mac and cheese… got to get that folic acid now!  Before the rest of the dementia sets in.  I have new sock instructions from the Sock Goddess.  After pulling up a few pictures of knit socks… I think I understand the gist of it.  We shall see… maybe this afternoon I’ll wrap myself up with a blanket and give it a go.

stop laughing.
